Update: Ice Cube Responds to Criticism for Negotiating With Trump’s Campaign

Update 10/14/2020 6:49pm:

Ice Cube was heavily criticized on social media after a Trump staffer tweeted that the legendary rapper’s Contract With Black America (CWBA) helped Donald Trump develop his “Platinum Plan.” Cube responded to critics on Twitter and clarified that he was contacted by both the Democratic Party and Trump’s campaign.

“Facts: I put out the CWBA. Both parties contacted me,” Ice Cube wrote. “Dems said we’ll address the CWBA after the election. Trump campaign made some adjustments to their plan after talking to us about the CWBA.”

Cube responded to one fan who expressed his disappointment in Cube working with the “Darkside” by stating that that’s true for all sides until they prove otherwise.

“Every side is the Darkside for us here in America” Cube replied. “They’re all the same until something changes for us. They all lie and they all cheat but we can’t afford not to negotiate with whoever is in power or our condition in this country will never change. Our justice is bipartisan.”

Trump campaign senior advisor Katrina Pierson took to Twitter to thank Ice Cube for “his willingness to step up and work with @realDonaldTrump Administration to help develop the #PlatinumPlan.” This comes after Ice Cube revealed in a video on Sunday (October 11) that he met with both parties, and he stated that he was refusing to get caught up in anyone’s rhetoric. Cube also revealed that no president has ever done right by the Black community, and he’s not siding with the Democrats after a host of other Black entertainers have endorsed Biden and Kamala Harris.

Ice Cube also revealed the “$500 billion” on the table from the Republicans, which is part of Trump’s four-year “Platinum Plan.” A breakdown of the plan reveals that Trump plans to “Increase access to capital in Black communities by almost $500 billion” by various means, including creating 3 million new jobs for the Black community and creating 500,000 new Black-owned businesses.

Ice Cube hasn’t promoted Trump’s plan or stated that he is responsible for helping create the plan, which you can check out in full above.
