Milwaukee Bucks superstar and two-time reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo sparked rumors of a possible move to the Lakers after mentioning LeBron James and Kobe in a recent interview with Greek network Cosmote.
As one of the most sought after free agents in the league, fans have been looking for clues as to whether Antetokounmpo will stay with the Bucks or go to another team. He responded to the possibility of leaving Milwaukee, stating, “Everyone has opinions. But at the end of the day, I will do what is best for my family. I do not see why I could not be in Milwaukee for several years. As long as Milwaukee and I are on the same page when it comes to being one of the best teams in the League and winning championships, that’s fine. When it changes, it will not be good.”
He then added, “It depends on what decisions they make. If they make the right decision, I’ll be there for many years. If they do not, we’ll see. The NBA is business and we take it day by day. Hopefully, we can succeed together.”
Giannis also heaped praise on LeBron, stating, “LeBron is the best player in the world right now, I am saying it. He is my role model not only as a basketball player. You’ve never heard something bad for him, he is out doing his job. He’s just very competitive.” He also said, “This is a statement that I have never made before. If LeBron and Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis came to Milwaukee I would be happy. I am not interested if I am the top, second or third name, ok? I just want to win.”
