According to reports, University of Utah football star Ty Jordan was revealed to be dead after an accidental shooting. The incident reportedly occurred early Saturday morning.
Police noted they responded to a call from a person reporting a gunshot victim. Jordan was rushed to a local hospital, where the 19-year-old was pronounced dead. Authorities noted that Jordan reportedly shot himself in the hip with a handgun accidentally but didn’t reveal any other details.
In 2020, Ty Jordan was the Pac-12 Offensive Freshman Player of the Year after he reportedly rushed for 597 yards and scored six touchdowns. Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham spoke on the matter, saying, “Words cannot express the devastation and heartache that our team is feeling right now upon learning of the tragic death of our teammate and brother, Ty Jordan. Ty’s personality and smile were infectious, and he made a huge impact on our program in the short time he was with us. All of us in the Utah Football Family want to say we love you Ty, and may you rest in peace.”
