Former Trump and GOP Aide Charged with Distributing Child Porn

A former digital strategist for the Senate Republican Conference who also designed social media ads for Donald Trump’s re-election campaign, has been charged with distributing child pornography.

D.C. Metropolitan Police arrested Ruben A. Verastigui, 27, on Friday (February 5)  after an investigation revealed that he “distributed, received, and possessed images of child pornography” between March 2020 and February 2021. Homeland Security special agents discovered Verastigui while investigating 18 people who were trading child porn on an unnamed website.

Court documents also included a conversation Verastigui had with another user, where he stated, “Well like I said babies are some of my biggest turn-ons and beast. Young rape… F*** I love all that.” Another discussion showed that he was sent and viewed a video depicting the rape of an infant.

Since July, Verastigui has been working as a communications manager at Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions, a conservative green energy non-profit. The company reacted to news of his arrest, stating, “The details of the allegations against Mr. Verastigui are tragic and shocking. He is no longer employed by the organization and we are prepared to fully cooperate with law enforcement requests in this matter to any extent needed.”
