Michael Jordan Donates $10 Million to Open Medical Clinics in North Carolina

Michael Jordan has been donating to various causes in the last few years, as the retired NBA player has been using his success and monetary status to make an impact on the country. Previously, Jordan donated $2.5 million to combat Black voter suppression, which was an issue during Donald Trump’s time in office. Now, Jordan is reportedly donating $10 million to open two new health clinics located near Wilmington, North Carolina, his hometown.

The clinics are geared to help those in need, and Jordan is teaming up with a non-profit healthcare group named Novant Health. According to Novant, Jordan’s donation is set to offer “comprehensive primary care, including behavioral health and social support services, to the area’s most vulnerable communities.” The clinics Jordan donated to are supposed to be offering “much-needed services to those who are uninsured or underinsured” and are set to open early 2022.

Michael Jordan spoke on the move, saying, “Everyone should have access to quality health care, no matter where they live, or whether or not they have insurance. Wilmington holds a special place in my heart, and it’s truly gratifying to be able to give back to the community that supported me throughout my life.” Stay tuned for more updates.
