Gucci Mane artist Foogiano has reportedly been sentenced to five years in prison for being on the run after melting off his ankle monitor.

The rapper was charged with being a fugitive from justice without a warrant after he removed his court-ordered ankle monitor stemming from a gun possession conviction. After reports of Foogiano’s sentence started circulating, Boomman — Authentic Empire CEO and the man credited with discovering the rapper — spoke out against the rapper’s sentence.

“Green County Just Gave @FoogianoDaMayor 5 years for cutting an ankle monitor for a gun charge that wasn’t his and was claimed by some one else this is beyond crazy we have to do something about this!” Boomman tweeted.

Neither Foogiano nor Gucci Mane have commented on or confirmed the rapper’s sentence.

Gucci Mane’s artist Foogiano was arrested and booked at the Shelby County Jail in Memphis on Thursday (March 11). The rapper, born Kwame Brown, was charged with being a fugitive from justice without a warrant.

Foogiano was wanted in Georgia’s Greenboro County after allegedly removing his court-ordered ankle monitor and disappearing for two weeks. He was initially placed on house arrest with the ankle monitor after being arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Barrow County, Ga. on Dec. 6, 2020, which was a violation of his probation from a prior burglary conviction.

After being released from Greene County Jail on Dec. 14, 2020, on a $50,000 cash bond following a court appearance, a Georgia Department of Community Service officer received an alert that Foogiano’s ankle monitor was being tampered with. According to The Herald-Journal, his ankle bracelet was found on the side of a highway in Barrow County, Ga. with straps that appeared to be “melted off.”

According to Greensboro, Georgia newspaper The Herald-Journal, Gucci Mane’s artist Foogiano is on the run after allegedly burning off his ankle monitor.

The Herald-Journal reported that Foogiano, real name Kwame Brown, is on probation from a 2015 burglary conviction, where he was charged with possessing a firearm as a felon. After hearing from 3 witnesses on December 14, a judge set Foogiano’s cash-only bail at $50,000. The judge also recommended that he wear an ankle monitor and stay in Georgia.

However, the night he was released, Foogiano reportedly didn’t charge his ankle monitor, which went dead, and he was untraceable for several hours. Later that day, the ankle monitor was charged, but officers received an alert that the ankle monitor was being tampered with. The monitor later appeared to stop working on the side of a highway in Barrow County, which is where it was retrieved with no sign of Foogiano. Officers say that the straps of the ankle monitor appeared to have been burned off.

A motion was filmed to revoke Foogiano’s week-old bond, which a judge approved. Warrants were then taken out for his arrest, but no arrests have been made so far.

More details to come.
