Some of the biggest hip-hop beefs in history have been over women, including Chris Brown and Drake, whose feud reportedly starting over both stars dating Rihanna, exploded in a bottle-throwing brawl at an NYC nightclub in 2012. The incident left multiple people injured, including former NBA player Tony Parker, who sued W.i.P. nightclub for $20 million, claiming he suffered a corneal laceration in his left eye and other injuries.
Other rappers have been in explosive feuds that have involved women, including T.I., who came to blows with Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas over his wife Tiny. Drake and Common also feuded after Drake started dating Serena Williams, who previously dated Common.
Common opened up to VladTV about the incident, stating, “For me, I think it was an emotional thing. Meaning, I was feeling like, at that time, I think it was the Drake-Serena situation,. I didn’t know what was going on with that. And I ain’t know if he was throwing shots at me. [Serena] my ex and we’re going our separate ways. So unfortunately, the war might have been over a girl, but at the time I never said that. It wasn’t totally that. It was more of, ‘Do you respect me? ‘Cause I actually like you as an artist.'”
