Update 05/11/2021 9:22pm:

The 15-year-old girl involved in the botched robbery turned murder of a 66-year-old UberEats driver reportedly pleaded guilty to one charge of felony murder last Wednesday and is scheduled to be sentenced on June 4. All other charges were dropped.

The 13-year-old suspect is slated to appear in court next week. Under DC law, no person 13 years of age or younger can be charged as an adult, including cases of murder.

Update 04/05/2021 9:53pm:

According to reports, the two teen girls accused of killing an UberEats driver before carjacking him have “reached a plea deal” with prosecutors. The Washington Post reports that the lawyers for the girls will receive an official plea-bargain in the coming days.

Details about the deal are sparse but it’s important to note that under DC law, the 13-year-old cannot be charged as an adult whereas the 15-year-old can be charged as an adult but would increase the burden of proof on the part of the prosecution. These details about DC law could inform what the plea-bargains will be, which has many in the social media sphere up in arms.

Crime has been on the rise since COVID-19 restrictions have been easing up in many states. Now, a shocking incident has found two teenagers carjacking a Uber Eats driver in Washington D.C., with a subsequent car crash resulting in the driver’s death.

Two teenage girls allegedly tased 66-year-old Mohammed Anwar before trying to steal his car. The man can be heard saying, “this is my car!” while Anwar’s car engine can be heard starting up.

From there, the girls try to speed off while Anwar can be seen hanging out of the front door of the vehicle before crashing. Once the car landed on its side, Anwar could be seen lying with massive injuries while the girls climbed out with no issue. As of now, the two girls have been arrested and are facing felony murder charges.
