BLM Co-Founder Patrisse Cullors Resigns Amid Controversy

Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors resigns from her position as executive director for the movement’s foundation amid the real estate investment portfolio controversy that was revealed about a month ago.

Cullors called out what she considered to be a far-right smear campaign. Still, she noted that the revelation of her $3 million real estate portfolio and the subsequent fallout didn’t influence her decision to step down. Cullors is stepping down to focus on other endeavors, including a second book and developing TV projects.

“I’ve created the infrastructure and the support, and the necessary bones and foundation, so that I can leave,” Cullors told The Associated Press. “It feels like the time is right.”
