Richard Jefferson Calls Out Kevin Garnett for Criticizing Kyrie Irving

Many in the sports world rallied around Kyrie Irving after a Celtics fan threw a bottle of water in his direction as he was exiting the court. The incident was the latest in a string of occurrences in which NBA fans have disrespected players and their families at games. Despite the support Irving received, Kevin Garnett and other Celtics called out the guard for disrespecting the Celtics’ logo prior to the bottle-tossing incident.

“So nobody gonna say anything about Kyrie stomping ‘Lucky?’ We just gonna act like we didn’t see that going on,” Garnett wrote in an Instagram Story post. “You can’t do that. That’s not coo on no level .. All of us need to be better frfr (for real for real). I’m just sayin.”

Richard Jefferson, former NBA player and teammate of Irving, called out Garnett for his seemingly hypocritical comments. The current ESPN commentator accused Garnett of being more disrespectful than Kyrie Irving during his playing career while speaking on the matter on Twitter.

“Kevin Garnett has done FAR more disrespectful things on the court than what Kyrie did,” Jefferson tweeted. “I don’t want to hear that noise. He’s crossed that line plenty of times…… plenty of times. Seen it, heard it, heard about it!”

Since the incident in Boston, the fan who tossed the bottle at Kyrie Irving has been arrested and banned from the arena for life.
