Kodak Black is facing backlash for recording Commissioner Mark Bogen during a recent
phone conversation without Bogen’s knowledge.
Bogen called Kodak to share his regrets for opposing a proclamation slated to honor the
rapper’s charity work, which Kodak posted on his Instagram account. The post was later
taken down, as many people warned Kodak that in the state of Florida, it’s illegal to tape
(film or audio record) someone without their consent.
During the conversation, Bogen told Kodak he was reacting to the rapper’s highly
publicized legal issues, and he added that he didn’t realize the charitable contributions
Kodak had made. As many publications have pointed out, despite the backlash, there
seems little chance Kodak will be prosecuted for the recording.
