‘Major Gang War’ in Bronx Leaves Multiple Teens Dead in the Streets

According to reports, a gang war that has been taking place between rival crews in

theBronx has resulted in the death of a 13-year-old boy along with two other teenagers

inthe past five days.

Police sources noting one of the first teens to be a casualty of the violence taking place in

the Bronx was 19-year-old Tyquill Daugherty. The young man was shot in front of his

place of residence located in Crotona this past Wednesday. A high-ranking police source

commented on the situation, saying: “We can’t keep them in [jail], and they’re going

after each other.” A city prosecutor spoke on the matter as well, saying, “They don’t go to

jail, so they do robberies, get in fights, and carry guns. Life on the streets in 2021.”

The death of Daugherty was followed up by the death of Jaryan Elliot, a 13-year-old who

was allegedly a part of the Crips. Elliot was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting, which

was believed to be retaliation for Daugherty. Following Elliot’s death, a 16-year-old name

Ramon Gil-Medrano was killed only hours later by two men on scooters in retaliation

for the death of Elliot.

Reports noted that there had been at least 318 shooting victims in the Bronx in 2021, in

comparison to the 193 shootings that went down in the same time period in 2020.
