Update: Richard Sherman’s Wife Told 911 Dispatcher He Threatened to Kill Himself

Update 07/14/2021 11:49pm:

In a harrowing 911 call, Richard Sherman’s wife expressed that her husband was

entertaining suicidal thoughts before his arrest early Wednesday morning. Authorities

believe what transpired leading up to the arrest was a drunken night that resulted in

him crashing his SUV and rendering it undrivable. Not to mention threats to hang

himself.

The audio is said to be Sherman’s wife, Ashley Moss, who can be heard telling the

emergency operator that her husband had been heavily drinking and was “being

aggressive” with her uncle as well as “threatening to kill himself … and sent text

messages to people saying he is going to hang himself.”

Update 07/14/2021 4:02pm:

More details have emerged in relation to five-time Pro Bowler Richard Sherman’s

burglary domestic violence arrest.

The NFL free agent was reportedly taken down by a police K9 unit after attempting to

break into a family member’s home. It was later revealed that Sherman is also being

investigated for a possible DUI and hit-and-run after a car registered in his name was

involved in a single-car crash involving a construction-zone barrier.

Despite Sherman’s arrest and DUI investigation, his wife Ashley Moss confirmed

Redmond public information officer James Perry’s claim that no one was harmed

during the alleged crash and attempted burglary.

“At this time we’re going to make no statements, except he didn’t harm anybody,” Moss

said. “My kids were not harmed in the incident. He’s a good person and this is not his

character. We’re doing alright, just trying to get him out. I want people to know no one

was injured.”

Richard Sherman will have to wait until Thursday to appear in front of a judge where he

will be formally charged.

Former Seahawks and 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman, who is currently a free

agent, was arrested in Seattle on Wednesday (July 14) morning for burglary domestic

violence, according to ESPN.

A spokesman for the Redmond (Washington) Police Department told ESPN that

Sherman is being held without bail, which is standard in domestic violence cases, until

he can appear before a judge. The spokesperson also revealed more information about

the events leading up to Sherman’s arrest, as they state that a 911 call came in about

someone saying an adult male family member who did not live at the residence was

trying to force his way into their home.

When police arrived, Sherman allegedly struggled during the arrest, but was ultimately

apprehended and taken to a local hospital, where he was cleared and then booked into

the King County Correctional Facility.

The NFL Players Association, which Sherman is Vice President of, reacted to the news in

a statement that read, “We were made aware of an arrest last night of one of our player

leaders for an alleged domestic violence incident and have activated our domestic

violence crisis protocol for the protection and support of everyone involved. We will

continue to monitor events closely as more facts are made available to us.”

More details to come.
