Pastor Troy Displays Firearms Collected from ‘Gun Buy Back’ Event in Atlanta

Pastor Troy hosted a “Gun Buy Back” event in Atlanta this past weekend with the hopes of decreasing gun violence in the city. Presented by the South Fulton Police Department and Councilwoman Carmalitha Gumbs, the event offered cash to individuals who brought in rifles, handguns, and broken guns.

Those who brought in weapons didn’t have to take photos, present IDs, or answer any questions about the guns they brought in. Participants who brought in rifles received $100, while those who brought handguns and broken firearms received $75 and $25, respectively.

Pastor Troy displayed the guns that were collected and revealed 50 guns were taken off the street as a result of the event.

“Thanks everybody that supported the Gun Buy Back!!!” the 43-year-old wrote on Instagram. “We got 50 guns off the street. That’s gangsta. Thanks @handcuffs_and_heelz and @TheChiefofSF #DSGB #DSGG.”

Most recently, Pastor Troy fed more than 70 families during last year’s holiday season and participated in a virtual Christmas concert with the Ying Yang Twinz, YoungBloodz, Bone Crusher, and other notable acts.

Pastor Troy’s “Gun Buy Back” event comes after Atlanta’s homicide rate increased by 58 percent in 2020.
