Jay Williams Reveals He Got Death Threats for Defending Kyrie Irving

Previously, Stephen A. Smith and Jay Williams got into a heated exchange over Kyrie

Irving and the issues the player is dealing with in terms of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Smith went on to say, “I’ve been covering the NBA now for almost 25 years. This is

some of the stupidest nonsense I’ve ever seen. Just flat-out stupid.” Williams

responded and went on to defend Irving for his takes. Since then, Williams revealed

he received death threats for defending Kyrie Irving.

While speaking to TMZ, Williams spoke on the backlash he’s been receiving, saying

people have been bringing up his horrific motorcycle accident that happened in 2003.

The ESPN analyst said “Thank God I almost passed away when I was 21 years old. You

know some of the crazy s**t that people say to me on the internet when they disagree

with my opinion? Go hit a pole, go die again, aww Duke education. Thank God I went

through that experience, ’cause I don’t need other people to justify how I think about

myself.”

Williams then went on to say “Kyrie Irving doesn’t owe you anything. He doesn’t owe

you a response on your timeline. He doesn’t owe you answers that you feel like you

need. I got answers for all you guys — your opinions do not matter and it shouldn’t

matter to Kyrie Irving.” Watch above.
